Destinations To Fit Your Personality

March 23, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

They say the destinations you travel to says a lot about your personality. Just think about it: if you’re an easy-going person you may prefer a relaxed beach destination to an adrenaline filled vacation. And perhaps if you’re arty and inquisitive, you may want to visit a place that’s known for its architecture or strong design culture. There is indeed something to be said for the destination that tickles your fancy; and with that being said, let’s take a look at the four fundamental personality types, and find the ideal destination for each.

Personality type: Sanguine

Temperament: enthusiastic, active and social

If you consider yourself an extrovert; thriving on social interactions and enjoying nothing more than being the centre of attention, then it’s highly likely that you fall under the category of ‘Sanguine’. Sanguine’s love people, they are the social butterflies of the world. While they’re happy to interact with anyone and everyone they come into contact with, they seek deeper meaning to their interactions and gravitate towards people that are storytellers. Sanguines enjoy sharing their experiences and love to hear others’ too – this is their favourite way to connect. They strive to learn from others and hear their perspectives on life and the world; and find it incredibly thrilling when they share the same views as those they come into contact with. They may come across as bubbly, chatty and outspoken (and they are), but it’s all for a greater purpose. Sanguine’s are also known to enjoy their comforts; they are attracted to the luxury life and certainly know how to enjoy the finer things in life.

Destinations fit for Sanguines: Experiential vacations where they’re able to learn more about the intricacies of life and the planet, without compromising on comfort and luxury. They would also prefer places that have a strong focus on social interactions. A safari at Samara Game Reserve in Africa, a skiing holiday in Finland, or a backpacking trip through Southeast Asia would be perfect for a Sanguine as they bring like-minded people together; and often encourage socialising between travellers.

Personality type: Choleric

Temperament: Dominant, strong-willed and goal-oriented

Choleric’s are extremely confident. They are strong and powerful in aura; always making a grand entrance when they walk into a room – sometimes without even trying. Those that fall under ‘Choleric’ are go-getters who measure their value based on how they have impacted the world; more so in the business sense. They are attracted to wealth and will give their all to acquire it. They like others to know that they are successful and important, although they won’t necessarily boast about it; but are flattered when it’s noticed. They are known to be the least sympathetic of the four traits, however, they will kill for those they love. They are intense, strong-willed, powerful in nature and very self-confident.

Destinations fit for a Choleric: any place where they can see or be seen. They would prefer to go somewhere popular- somewhere that’s the ‘it’ place to go at the time. The most popular destinations currently are Bali, Vietnam and Thailand. For the Choleric’s that have more than a few pennies to spare would enjoy Europe, specifically Zurich.

Personality type: Melancholic

Temperament: analytical, detail oriented, deep thinker and feeler

Melancholics are introspective – they analyze themselves and their feelings and will often ponder for days, weeks or months about various circumstances, whether external or personal. They tend to search for a deeper meaning in everything they see and do, and will often interpret situations in a very different way from most people. Melancholics are known to be the most creative of the four traits, and lean towards areas that allow them to express themselves in any way they please – specifically art, literature and music. They have a deep love for people and are always looking for ways to make the world a better place – they feel it is their duty.

Destinations fit for a Melancholic: any place where they feel they can be free and can express themselves wholeheartedly. They thrive on interacting with other interesting people who they can learn from and feel inspired by. They would suit a destination that has an art-y flair’ that’s also vibrant and energetic – to get their minds off of analysing themselves and their inner world, and instead focus on their creative strengths. Design hubs like New York, London, Copenhagen and Berlin would be right up their alley.

Personality type: Phlegmatic

Temperament: relaxed, peaceful, quiet

Phlegmatic’s are introverts. They’re reserved, they keep to themselves and often tend to exclude themselves, often without knowing that they’re doing so. They can be mistaken for being stand-offish and unapproachable, but this couldn’t be further from reality. They’re instead very shy, and loathe being the centre of attention. Most phlegmatic’s feel awkward in social settings especially with people they don’t know, however, they’re surprisingly very chatty and ‘open’ with those that they know and feel a connection to. Phelgmatic’s may not be the overly social type, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care for others. They like to analyse people and read between the lines of what others portray. They hear what is not said, and they see what is not shown – they are extremely intuitive and instinctual.

Destinations fit for Phelgmatic’s: a place that is not too different from their home-town, because they’re known to not like change. Phlegmatic’s prefer the familiar and won’t often venture too far out of their comfort zones.

  1. Create a to-do list every day

One way to keep focused and to avoid procrastinating on a daily basis is to get into the habit of creating a to-do list on a daily basis. Which will ensure that by the time Sunday comes around, that you’ll have free time to attend a church service. As you’ll be on top of all the tasks, which you’ve set yourself for the week.

If you live with a partner or your family, make sure that they complete their fair share of chores as if you’re not stuck having to clean an entire house by yourself in the weekends, you’ll find it far easier to find a bit of free time to attend church on a Sunday morning. You may even be interested in creating a chore chart, which will show each member of your household what their chores are for the week.

Or from your parents who may be able to look after your children, so that you can complete a little extra work on your laptop or get a head start on completing your weekly household chores.

How To Enter The World Of Online Dating

March 15, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Image: Pixabay.com

Traditionally, many people used to turn their noses up at the thought of online dating, but those numbers are rapidly declining. It’s often felt like a last resort, or a sign that you are incapable of finding love off your own back. Perhaps it’s a generation thing. The younger generation are seemingly far less reluctant to venture online and increase their chances of finding ‘the one’. For those who struggle to find dates with compatible people – perhaps due to where you live or the strenuous nature of your work – online dating is the ideal platform to find like-minded singles that are as serious about finding love as you.

It’s losing its stigma

According to GQ Magazine, you are more likely to encounter an alien than meet a potential partner. Statistics suggest that you have a three-in-one-million chance of finding a prospective love interest on a London night out. This means it is 500 times more likely that you will discover an alien life form. With such long odds, it’s unsurprising why so many people are turning to online dating websites and apps to try and engage with well-suited people you would not otherwise meet.

Worldwide spend on dating apps reached £234m in 2016, but almost doubled in 2017 to £448m, according to app research firm, App Annie. Meanwhile Pew Research stated that almost two-thirds (59%) of adults now perceive online dating to be a good way of meeting new people.

A fun way to meet interesting like-minded people

With online dating, the ball is entirely in your court. You can view the profiles of people that float your boat and equally you can stop talking to those who aren’t compatible with you. It’s designed to be a fun social experience. You sift through the profiles of singles in your area and contact the ones that tick the right boxes, whether it’s looks or similar views on life. You can then arrange a face-to-face date and see if there is a genuine connection in person. If ever a date doesn’t go well, just leave. You’re under no obligation to continue a meet with someone you’ve met online, just like you can leave a conversation with someone you meet offline at a bar.

Choosing the right dating site or app for you

Image: Pixabay.com

There are a growing number of matchmaking apps available for you to choose from online. Here are some top tips to help you narrow down your options and find a dating app or website that’s best suited to your needs.

  • Do you want to pay for access?
It can be an agonising decision whether to pay for an online dating service or opt for a free version. There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to this, as there are solid paid and free dating services available online. Don’t just assume that the paid services offer a more comprehensive service, as there are free dating sites that score well in user satisfaction surveys. Nevertheless, it’s right to assume that paid services are more likely to feature users more serious about finding a lifelong partner.
  • Take the communication element seriously
How good an online dating app is generally depends on the level of interaction you’re allowed to have with other users. Some sites will allow anyone to send you a message, while others will only allow users to contact you once they have been matched with you. You don’t really want a dating app that restricts you from communicating or limits the number of messages you can send!
  • Quality vs quantity
One big question you have to decide is whether you want a dating app that offers a high volume of singletons or a smaller pool of singletons that may be better suited to you. It ultimately depends on how keen you are to find that special someone and whether you’re just looking to spread your wings as a social butterfly.
  • Research each site’s demographics
In order to avoid timewasters and downright muppets on your chosen dating app, be sure to do your research on each dating site’s demographics. There are online dating portals created for a variety of demographics today, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual (LGBT) community. Encouragingly, the rights available now for the LGBT community are improving. Although 37 of the 53 nations within the Commonwealth still criminalise consensual same-sex acts, recognition and support for the community has come a long way. Online dating is an important platform for people to express themselves with complete freedom. The fundamental reason LGBT dating apps now exist is to provide a safe environment for LGBT singles to socialise. Sociologists, Michael Rosenfeld and Reuben Thomas said that by 2010, almost three-quarters (70%) of same-sex couples were meeting online.

Focus more on other people’s dating profiles than your own

It’s understandable that you will take great pride in ensuring your profile and profile photos portray you in the best possible light. After all, it’s your shop window to prospective singletons. However, it’s more important to pay closer attention to other people’s profiles than your own. If you’re thinking of getting in contact with another user, take the time to read their profile carefully and tailor your message to their interests. Taking soundbites from their profile is a form of online flirting without being too full-on!

Most importantly, be safe!

The golden rule with all online dating is to keep yourself safe at all times. We might sound like an overbearing mother, but it’s imperative that you don’t put yourself in a potentially dangerous situation when meeting someone from your dating app for the first time. Agree a date location in a very public place. This will not only put your mind at rest, it will make it less awkward if the date doesn’t go too well and allow you to slink off into the masses to find Mr or Mrs Right again.

Online dating can certainly be an emotionally exhausting process. You’re unlikely to meet the love of your life overnight, so just relax into it. Enjoy every moment. Even if you only make some good friends along the way, it will bring you happiness and will have been worth it.

7 Tips For Road Tripping In Ireland

March 14, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

If you have your sights firmly set on visiting the emerald isle in the near future, simply continue to discover a variety of tips which will make road tripping in Ireland a breeze!

7 Tips for road tripping in Ireland:

  1. Consider hiring an all-terrain, four-wheel drive vehicle

If you plan on road tripping around Ireland and visiting remote Irish villages and towns, which are located in the countryside, you may want to consider hiring a four-wheel drive vehicle. Which will be able to handle country roads without any problems. Keep in mind, it is a good idea to have insurance while traveling just in case anything was to happen. Chill Insurance is an honest company that can help you find the right coverage at the right price. If you were looking to get insurance for your travels it is highly recommended to research your options and find the right coverage.

  1. Make sure to keep to the left-hand side of the road at all times

In Ireland, you must drive on the left-hand side of the road, which may take a little adjustment period to get the hang of, if you’re used to driving on the right-hand side of the road.

  1. Fill up on gas well before your car runs out of gas

While you may be used to driving past a gas station every five minutes, when you’re at home, in Ireland gas stations aren’t as readily available, so if your vehicle has less than half a tank of gas and you pass by a gas station, it’s well worth turning your car around and filling up your car’s tank. As you just don’t know when you’ll come across the next gas station on your road trip through Ireland.

  1. Don’t expect gas stations to accept credit cards

In Ireland, it’s far less common for gas stations to accept credit cards. So make sure that you have alternate forms of payment such as a debit card or cash ready, in order to pay for your gas.

  1. Enjoy dinners at local pubs instead of at pricey restaurants

If you’re interested in meeting friendly locals, it’s well worth choosing to enjoy dinners at local pubs, which boast hearty fare and Irish beers, instead of paying a small fortune to eat a fancy restaurant. So if you’re looking for an authentic Irish experience, you can’t go wrong visiting an Irish pub and experiencing a little bit of warm Irish hospitality!

  1. Make sure to have your camera or smartphone ready for photo opportunities

While you won’t want to pull out your camera or your smart phone’s camera when you’re driving, it’s still well worth having a camera or smartphone camera nearby as you just never know when you may want to pull over in order to take a stunning photo of Ireland’s stunning countryside. As an example, Ireland boasts numerous castles which make stunning photographs to show to your family members and friends back home.

  1. Consider staying at bed and breakfasts over hotels

When it comes to accommodation, it’s well worth choosing to stay at a friendly bed and breakfast, in order to experience a more authentic Irish vacation. As not only will you get to enjoy hot breakfast every morning and to be able to talk to your local hosts about nearby sites and attractions but you’ll also get to stay in a gorgeous Irish home, instead of in a sterile hotel or in an RV – unless you were looking for a trip that involved always being on the road.

If you plan on driving throughout Ireland on the road trip of a lifetime, make sure to follow the 7 simple tips listed above, in order to make sure that you enjoy an adventure of a lifetime.

3 Things You Need To Know About Crystal Wine Glasses

March 7, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

If you love drinking wine, then you understand the importance of using the right glass especially when hosting big events or parties. Picky wine aficionados pay great attention to the detail of their wine glass because it affects their drinking experience. For example, they make sure that the glass has the right bowl shape or stem length in order to integrate the aroma of the drink.

They even use various wine glasses for specific types of drinks. Tall glasses with a narrow bowl are mostly used to serve white wine like champagne or chardonnay. For red wine, glasses with a wider bowl and tapered to aerate the drink are preferred.

Aside from the shape, size, rim type and bowl shape of a wine glass, you also need to consider if its made from traditional or mineral infused glass. Technically, “crystal” wine glasses do not exhibit a crystalline structure. What makes them stronger than typical glass is the infused minerals.

Most manufacturers use lead. But others create dishwasher-safe glass that contains magnesium and zinc. Need to know more about crystal glass? Read on below:

  1. It can be spun thin, so it’s considered the best type of wine glass

Wine experts all agree that a thinner wine glass is better compared to thicker ones because of various reasons. According to wine specialists, the thin structure helps maintain the cool temperature of chilled wine. They also point out how the thin structure of the lead glass allows you to take a sip faster than when you drink from an ordinary wine glass. It’s also more convenient to carry around a lightweight glass instead of a thick and heavy glass.

  1. It’s expensive compared to standard glass

It’s dubbed by many connoisseurs as the best type of wine glass. Top restaurants that serve wine make use of crystal wine glasses because they enhance the flavor of the wine. This feature is primarily attributed to the coarse texture of the lead glass. In addition, it is composed of more ingredients. As such, making a crystal or lead glass is a bit harder compared to the regular type of wine glass.

  1. You need to hand wash it unless it’s lead-free

A crystal wine glass is made of porous material. Because of this, it can readily absorb chemicals from the wine. This is why it is strongly recommended to hand-wash your crystal wine glasses. Never use a dishwasher to clean your wine glasses unless they are lead-free. Otherwise, you might find shards of broken glass inside your dishwasher.

Before you purchase your crystal glasses, make sure to check the quality of the material. Inspect for cracks or other issues. After all, it does come with a hefty price tag. Check our Crystal Décor for good quality wine glasses.

How To Keep In Touch With Home While Traveling

March 2, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

You’re strong, independent, and living the dream; you’re traveling the world, and experiencing adventures in a way you’d never thought possible. However, that doesn’t mean that you won’t want to keep in contact with your family back at home. It doesn’t matter how far we travel, sometimes a little reassurance from a parent or close friend can go a long way – particularly if you’ve experienced something incredible, or have been feeling a little homesick.

Keeping in touch with your friends and relatives back home serves two purposes; not only will your loved ones want to hear about the adventures and experiences that you’re enjoying, but they’ll also need to know you’re safe – no matter where in the world you’ve headed. Providing your nearest and dearest with a detailed itinerary and endeavoring to keep in contact will ensure that someone knows where you are should an emergency occur. Besides, don’t you want your closest family and friends to share your epic adventure?

As well as ensuring that a close friend or family member has a copy of your itinerary and expected destinations, now’s the time to discuss the matter of communication with those you intend on staying in touch with. So, what are some of the best ways to keep in contact with those back home?

Update your social media

Social media has quickly become a preferred platform of communication for travelers from all walks of life; sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram enable travelers to post videos, images, and status updates to multiple followers at any one time, ensuring that nobody ever feels left out. In-app messenger services are great for text communication, video calls and audio messages, and for sending pictures, documents, videos, and links. Don’t forget to check your data plan before you leave home, ensuring that your use of apps and websites won’t cost you the earth while you’re away.

Don’t forget to check your emails

There are few pleasures as simple as finding a local Internet café and settling down with a coffee or smoothie in order to check your emails: Internet cafés usually offer a cheaper alternative to keeping your smart phone’s data switched on. While we’re often content with communicating via social media and apps, there can be little doubt that emails still hold a special place in our hearts – especially if you’d like to send a longer update. Checking your email inbox is also a great way to stay in contact with your favorite products and services from back home. Do you play the lottery? Don’t forget to check your email address for lotto alerts while you’re away. You never know; you may win enough to extend your travels even further.

Start a blog

If you’re going to be away for any particular length of time consider establishing a blog before you go. Updated with videos, stories, and images from your travels, a blog is an ideal way to keep in contact with friends and family members, as well as sharing key moments and exciting adventures. You’ll be thankful for your blog once you’ve returned home, with a bump. What’s more, a travel blog is a great way to earn a little money while you’re away – particularly if you’re happy to host sponsored posts and appraise products, services, and accommodation. As a seasoned traveler you’re no doubt aware of just how expensive your hobby can be!

Send a postcard, or write

We’re so used to occupying the digital age that many of us have forgotten the simplest of pleasures that are derived from writing a letter, or sending a seaside postcard; your friends and family members will no doubt take great joy in receiving post from you at regular intervals. Postcards, letters, souvenirs, and mementos will involve your nearest and dearest in every stage of your adventure. Such items can be placed into a scrapbook, or memory box for you to review upon your return. Just in case you begin to get technology withdrawal, there are plenty of postcard apps available for download before you set off!

Arrange a call, or video chat

Writing a blog or updating social media can feel a little lonely until you begin to receive comments, likes, and notifications. Similarly, sending a letter or postcard will allow you to inform your friends and family members of your adventures, but not keep in touch with their news. Calling and video chats via a service such as Skype, Google Voice, or Facetime allow travelers to enjoy face-to-face chats with their loved ones, while sharing all of the gossip and news that’s occurring back home. Hosted telephone systems are especially popular with businesses if you happen to be traveling for work, while apps such as Whatsapp and Magic Jack can make communication easier than ever. Don’t forget to check your data plan and roaming charges, though!

It’s never been quicker, easier, or cheaper to keep in touch with home while traveling, regardless of where in the world you’ve ventured. Gone are the days when travelers would have to make do with snatched conversations in phone booths until their loose change ran out; these days we’re able to see and speak to our loves ones while we’re away, as well as sending images, videos, and exciting tidbits that we might have discovered along the way. The digital age can make it feel as though the world is shrinking, and yet there is still so much for us to discover. Where will your next journey take you, and how will you keep in contact with home while you’re away?

How To Use Aromatherapy In The Shower

February 28, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Indulging in essential oils is fairly common practice in the bathtub, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the fantastic benefits of aromatherapy even during an everyday shower. If you don’t have a bathtub or simply don’t have the time to devote to a good soak, you can still make aromatherapy a daily part of maintaining the health of your body, mind, and spirit.

  1. Steam it up.

Before starting your shower, turn the water on full blast as hot as you can make it. Filling your bathroom with steam will trap the essential oil as it is vaporized, allowing you to inhale it effectively and achieve the greatest benefit.

Once the steam has started to rise, it’s time to add your oils. Then, turn the water to a more desirable temperature and enjoy your very own at home steam shower.

  1. Use the right carrier.

To fully benefit from using an essential oil, you need to ensure it can be effectively dispersed in the shower. By placing a few drops on a cotton ball, face pad, or even a wash cloth, you can bring a carrier right into the shower with you as you deeply inhale the healing steam of aromatherapy.

You can also flick a few drops of your essential oil on the walls of your shower, after the steam and water have gotten them sufficiently wet. This helps ensure the oil can be vaporized properly.

  1. Keep it damp.

After saturating your carrier with approximately 1o to 12 drops of the essential oil of your choice, place it carefully on the floor of your shower. You want it to stay moist, so make sure you’ve put it somewhere water can reach. However, keeping it directly under the stream will cause the oils to flow right down the drain.

The heat of the shower and the steam you’ve created in your bathroom will also help vaporize the oil. Adjust the placement of your carrier until you can find the right balance to enjoy a steady diffusion.

For a more direct application, you can turn your body so the flow of water is at your back and press the wash cloth or cotton ball to your chest.

  1. Choose appropriate oils.

Different essential oils will offer different effects, and it’s important to use the right ones at the right times. If you’re showering first thing in the morning, an energizing, stimulating scent will help you prepare for the day. But if you’re hoping to unwind a bit before bed, you’ll be better off using a more soothing aromatherapy option.

For energy, choose eucalyptus, rosemary, or peppermint. If you’re looking for a little extra cheer or to reduce anxiety, consider spearmint, sweet orange, lime, grapefruit, bergamot, or clary sage. And to relax at the end of the day and enjoy a more restful sleep, turn to lavender, ylang ylang, sandalwood, roman chamomile, sweet marjoram, vetiver, or patchouli. If you’re suffering from sinus congestion, cypress or pine can also provide additional healing benefits.

Remember, though, aromatherapy is a deeply personal experience. These recommendations may not work for you, so try out a variety of oils until you find the ones that help you achieve the benefits you’re looking for.

  1. Follow up with additional care.

After your shower, spend a few more minutes inhaling the fragrant steam as you apply a skin care oil that will provide even more healing benefits. Use movements that point toward your heart, which encourages circulation and lymph movement while stimulating your immune system.

When your skin is still damp, use a few drops of sweet almond, apricot kernel, or grapeseed oil to add moisture and allow you to continue your aromatherapy experience even outside of the shower. You could even use the same cloth you used as a carrier to spread the oil across your body.

You don’t have to invest in an expensive, luxurious steam shower to enjoy the many benefits of essential oils – and you also don’t need to spend hours soaking in the bathtub. These quick tips will allow you to make aromatherapy a valuable part of your daily routine, keeping you healthy and happy.

Steam Shower Health Benefits

February 28, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Steam showers have long been popular in gyms, health clubs and spas, but up until very recently, only the wealthy could have them in their own homes. Now, however, they have become affordable enough for everyone to enjoy their many benefits.

Stress Relief

Heat makes us relax physically and mentally. That’s why warm, sunny beaches are so popular as holiday locations. Sadly, we can’t take you to a tropical beach all year round, but a steam shower provides that luscious combination of warmth and moisture whenever you like. You can enhance the effect by adding aromatherapy oils, your choice of music and perhaps some coloured lights. What’s more the various corollary benefits of steam also add to your overall feeling of wellness and hence relaxation.

Better Blood Circulation

This may be the single biggest health and wellness benefit of steam given the lifestyles many of us lead these days. While we probably all know the health (and safety) issues related to sitting still over long periods, putting the recommended counter-measures into practice is often a case of “easier said than done” in crowded work spaces, especially when so many of us always have too much to do. Exercise can help our health in a lot of ways, but depending on your lifestyle, exercise alone may not be enough to counterbalance the long-term effects of poor posture leading to poor circulation.

Steam relaxes your blood vessels, this widens them and this increases the flow of blood. As a result, your vital organs get more oxygen and other nutrients, which is obviously beneficial to them. In particular, steam showers are very good for heart health. The more frequently you can take steam showers, the more benefit you can get from them. Ideally, you would have a steam shower every day or at least every other day, which is why it is so advantageous to have a steam shower in your own bathroom.

Improved Breathing

After the improvements to blood circulation, this may be the next biggest benefit of steam showers in our modern world. Many of us live in very polluted environments, London, in particular is notorious for its poor air quality and anyone who lives in an urban area is likely to be breathing in all kinds of pollutants every time they step out of doors. For the sake of your health and, in particular, your lungs, you want to get those pollutants out of your body as quickly as possible.

Steam is one of the most efficient cleaners there is, which is why it’s used in so many industrial cleaning systems. It’s also one of the gentlest, which is why it’s so popular with environmentalists, not only can you clean without harsh chemicals, but you can actually clean away harsh chemicals with pure water.

When it comes to the human body, steam is the ultimate cleaner in that it can literally get into all the tiny crevices in the body, including the ones in the lungs. It then picks up all the minute pieces of debris which can easily pass through our airways and gets them out again. You will only have a chance to appreciate just how good this can feel when you try your first steam shower. Even those with generally healthy lungs can benefit from the power of steam and anyone who suffers from a chronic respiratory condition, such as bronchitis, can really get a lot of relief thanks to steam.

As you may have guessed by now, steam is possibly the best cure in the world for bunged up sinuses and hence can go a long way to making colds less of a misery, what’s more it helps to boost your immune system, lowering the likelihood of you catching one in the first place!

Much Clearer Skin

The condition of your skin reflects the state of your inner body. Steam showers can’t compensate for a diet of junk food and regular lack of sleep, but steam can do a lot to help relieve the effects of the moderately unhealthy food and drink many of us consume regularly (such as caffeine and alcohol) and to counterbalance occasional excesses.

Steam increases the blood flow around the body, which not only speeds up the delivery of nutrients but also speeds up the removal of toxins from the body. The less time toxins spend in the body, the less damage they can do, which is another reason to have steam showers on a regular basis, ideally every day.

Most of the toxins are removed through sweat, which means the body’s pores need to be opened. Because of this, the end of a steam treatment is the perfect time to apply skin treatments, such as face masks or deep-moisturizing treatments since the open pores allow the treatment to get straight to work. This is one reason why steam masks are so highly regarded in the beauty industry.

Even if you don’t want to give yourself a full treatment every day, you may benefit from giving your face a quick wipe with a washcloth or cleansing tissue to remove any dirt which has been pushed to the surface of your skin. Exposed skin can quickly become clogged with tiny pollutants such as fine dust and pollen, leading to blocked pores and troublesome spots. This is particularly evident on the face since it is generally exposed to the elements and hence is most likely to come into contact with nasty pollutants. Steam will push them back out again.

Better Recovery from Exercise

There’s all sorts of great things about exercise and diets and both certainly do you a whole lot of good over the long term. Over the short term, however, a good exercise session can leave you feeling really stiff and sore. Instead of just gritting your teeth and saying “no pain no gain”, make use of steam, as the pros have been doing for years. That stiffness in your body is a combination of tense muscle and the lactic acid which builds up during exercise. The heat from the steam will relax your muscles, easing the stiffness of exercise, at the same time as it boosts your circulation, getting that lactic acid moving onwards and outwards.

Is It Malpractice if You Were Persuaded To Have A Surgery Or Treatment That Was Unnecessary?

February 22, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

When a lot of people think about medical malpractice and medical negligence compensation claims, they usually think about things like injury as a result of carelessness during surgery. However, medical malpractice can cover a lot of other things, and it is important for doctors, nurses, and surgeons to provide responsible and adequate care that meets the high standards of the patients in every situation involved in treating people. This includes the things that come before surgical procedures, such as the recommendation for the surgery or treatment and the consultations that take place beforehand, which are supposed to explain the procedure properly to the patient and give them full information about any treatment that has been prescribed for them.

When medical malpractice is the result of poor recommendations by doctors, it can be that people undergo surgery or receive treatment that was unnecessary for them. Because almost all treatments and surgeries carry some risk, and some can have serious side-effects, it is important to understand that unnecessary treatment can be as harmful as a treatment that is performed incorrectly.

Here is some more information about medical malpractice and negligence in the case of people who have had a treatment that they did not need.

Treatment as a Result of Misdiagnosis

Sometimes, medical malpractice claims relating to treatment or surgery that the patient later discovers was unnecessary relate to a situation where they were misdiagnosed prior to receiving the treatment. It is only natural that in medicine, doctors are not right 100% all of the time. However, where a misdiagnosis can be shown to be the result of medical negligence, for instance, the correct and usual protocols were not followed in giving the diagnosis, or the doctor refused tests that would normally be done prior to a diagnosis, this would count as malpractice as opposed to a normal mistake in diagnosis. This can sometimes occur given that many conditions have similar symptoms and diagnosis itself is not an exact science yet. In some cases, the patient may have suspected that the diagnosis was incorrect, or that more tests needed to be done, but the doctor did not agree to address their concerns. This can often be a situation that leads to people seeking out the help of medical negligence UK solicitors to help them claim for compensation.

Misdiagnosis isn’t always a case of diagnosing one condition when the person actually has a different one; it can also cover things like false positives from tests where the patient may have appeared to have a condition they did not in fact have and the doctor went ahead with treatment without doing further tests prior to this recommendation. In these cases, a lot depends on the protocols and standards for treating and diagnosing the specific condition at hand.

Misdiagnosis can be a difficult area from a legal perspective because it will need to be proven that the doctor that made the diagnosis and recommended the treatment didn’t perform the proper due diligence in making the diagnosis in the first place.

Treatment That Caused Harm and was Unnecessary

Another situation where people tend to seek out the advice of medical malpractice solicitors is when a type of treatment that they underwent caused harm to them or had negative results, and they feel that the treatment itself wasn’t actually necessary. As an example, sometimes surgeries to correct problems with things like knees actually make the original problem worse and the patient may have been better off being presented with pain management as a solution rather than surgery. There can be all kinds of situations that fall under this umbrella and usually, the malpractice element is because of the doctor favouring one style of treatment and not presenting all of the alternatives or problems in the treatment itself.

This type of problem can also arise where someone is prescribed a type of treatment that is not suitable for them, perhaps because the doctor didn’t investigate their current health situation enough when making the recommendation for the type of treatment they should receive for a condition.

Standard Alternatives Were Not Presented

In a similar vein, people can sometimes believe they have been subject to medical negligence when it is recommended for them to have a particular type of treatment that is risky or invasive, for example, surgery, without being told about the standard alternatives to this. As an example, in some cases, the patient may be able to choose between having surgery and simply living with their condition using painkillers to manage it. If the surgery is presented as the only option for them, or the doctor simply refers them to a hospital without any real discussion, then they are not able to make the decision themselves as to whether or not the inherent risk involved in any kind of surgical intervention is worth it to them.

When it comes to alternatives, however, this would only cover things that would be recommended under standard medical protocols. It would not, for instance, cover somebody being recommended to undergo a course of antidepressants, but not being told about various herbal remedies or alternative therapies that some people believe are viable alternatives.

Private Procedures That Were ‘Hard Sold

Another problematic situation that can lead to medical negligence claims UK can be where a person is persuaded or pressured into having an elective procedure that they may not have otherwise agreed to. Elective procedures by their very nature are not necessary for the patient’s ongoing health. However, an elective procedure can still be seen as an unnecessary treatment if the patient is persuaded that a more invasive procedure than the one they sought out should be taken, or they are pressured into having a surgery they have looked into but are not completely convinced they want to have. This quite often occurs in the field of cosmetic surgery, but other private procedures, such as vasectomies and sterilisation, can sometimes be related to this type of medical malpractice claim.

What To Do If You Believe You Were Subject To Medical Malpractice or Negligence

If you think that you have received unnecessary treatment for any of these reasons, the first thing you need to do is look for the best medical negligence solicitors who will be able to advise you on moving forward with a UK medical negligence claim. There are lawyers who specialise in medical negligence and medical malpractice, one example being The Medical Negligence Experts, who offer direct advice as well as claims on a no win no fee basis.

When you first see your medical negligence UK solicitors, you will need to provide as much evidence as you can to support your claim. This can include things like reports or assessments you have had by other doctors both before and after treatment, and records of the treatment that you’ve had. The first consultation with medical negligence solicitors UK will usually be free, and it may be required for the solicitors to go away and do some research into your case before they can make a decision as to whether or not it is likely to result in a successful compensation claim.

Should the solicitors decide to go ahead with representing you and your case, a lot of medical negligence lawyers UK will be willing to operate on a no win no fee basis, which means your legal fees will be paid out of the compensation should you win and you will not have to face any upfront costs, or pay for the legal services if your claim is not successful.

Medical negligence and malpractice is a very serious issue and so it is important that people who have suffered as a result of it come forward and make claims, so that the industry can become better regulated and these situations will affect fewer people in the future.
