Why Do Most Students Find Physics Tough?

June 26, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Some students have difficulty with presentations and talking infant of their peers. This is a normal feeling and it can be overcome with practice. However, if you ask a student, who is studying science and mathematics, that which subject he/she finds hard; the obvious answer will be Physics. But, why do most students find Physics hard to tackle? Sometimes, Physics become so tough for a student that parents are required to hire a private Physics tutor (find one here) for their ward so that he/she can get one-to-one attention in Physics. There is a number of reasons behind Physics becoming difficult for students.

  • Use of internet to solve Physics problems

It is a common tendency for students to search for the solutions to various Physics numerical and other problems on the internet. However, once or twice it seems to be fine. But, relying completely on the Internet to solve the problems; hampers the child’s learning ability. Solutions are collected and pasted rather than being learned from. If earlier physicians had access to Google; things would have been completely different. Isaac Newton would just have searched in Google about the apple falling and would have come to know about gravity straightaway. Hence, the solution is immediately reached. However, the solution is not that important as compared to the way through which the solution was reached. Similarly, if problems are not solved by the student themselves; they will gradually find the problems becoming more complex and reliability on the internet will exponentially increase making Physics tougher than it seems.

  • Requires an understanding of Mathematics as well

Physics is a subject which requires the application of mathematical equations as well. Hence, to understand the Physics problems, apart from having knowledge of reasoning and other theories, a student must have a complete understanding of mathematical concepts as well. This, considerable presence of Mathematics in Physics is what makes it significantly difficult from other subjects. As far as other subjects are concerned, students don’t require implementing Mathematics in them. It is Physics only which includes the applications of another subject as well. For many students, who find Mathematics tough, Physics automatically becomes tough.

  • Lack of Motivation

When a student finds it tough to deal with a subject, instead of trying hard to understand, he/she tends to lose motivation in that subject. Moreover, bland teaching methods can also be attributed to lack of motivation in students to learn Physics. Textbook teaching is not enough for a student to understand the concepts of Physics. Apart from textbook teaching, certain demonstrations must also be included so as to raise the levels of curiosity in students motivating them to learn. With demonstrations, a student can easily grasp as to what a Physics law is doing in real life and how the situation will be if the law didn’t prevail. Visualization always helps to learn in a much better way as compared to simply reading from a textbook.

Conclusion

The need of the study hour is not to learn a method to solve the problems in Physics; instead, the focus must be on understanding the working of the equations or abstract ideas. Learning a method is simply cramming but once a student understands the working of the equations he/she can deal with a problem in whatever way it is asked.

Hi Friends!
I'm Fern and I have a love for travel, beauty, health and flowers! I went to school for nutrition, but wasn't really interested in being a nutritionist. So, I started to bartend and have since I graduated school a year ago.
I love talking to people, traveling and writing on my blog... and bartending allows me to do the things I love.

I can take off for a month to travel abroad and there will never be any shortage of bartending/serving jobs when I get home. I also love that I can work abroad bartending anywhere I want! So, I hope you enjoy my blog and if you have any questions, feel free to email me! :)
