What To Pack For A NY Vacation

July 23, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Traveling to the Empire State is a fun vacation for everyone involved. You can visit the bustling metropolis that is New York City, escape the world by camping in the breathtaking national parks, or visit the coastal cities along New York’s beaches. The activity is endless – so is the fun, just make sure to keep your eyes on the road signs – you do not create one of your own NY wrong-way horror stories.

You might already know what you’re doing on your NY vacation. But, what exactly do you have to prepare when you’re packing for the great trip to the 4th largest state in the country? Freshening up on that online defensive driving info is always helpful, but that alone won’t cut it. That’s why we’ve prepared the most extensive list of what you should Pack for your NY vacation to the Empire State.

Roadside Emergency Kit

Every road trip deserves its own roadside emergency kit. When something goes awry on the trip, you should always be prepared. You can avoid the worst-case emergencies by having that quick solution stowed in the trunk of the car. You won’t have to rely on the friendliness of the local mountain folk either.

The roadside emergency kit should contain, medical supplies, bottled water, road flares, and a blanket. It will also help if you have a spare tire, because the trip could get tiring.

New York State Map

When the you reach the mountain regions of the state, cell phone reception can become spotty. The trees and mountains will block any signal that is being directed to your phone with merciless resilience. Having a backup road map of the New York State is important to getting around those back roads of the country. Also, pack plenty of audiobooks or CDs for your journey!

Spare New York Giants and New York Jets Jersey

Depending on the region you’re in, you might need to win the approval of the locals. Football allegiance is taken seriously in New York, and, to garner the respect of the people, you’ll have to blend in. Whether you like the team’s or not is irrelevant. Keeping a spare New York Giants or New York Jets jersey in your car will allow you to quickly gain the respect of anyone you encounter.

Cold Hard Cash

New York is known for its superb public transportation and infrastructure. However, one major downside to the state is the amount of toll roads you’ll encounter when driving through the land. That’s why you should pack some extra cash with you to easily travel through congested highways. Moreover, having spare cash is always great to have while on vacation – in case you lose your credit card or if you’re visiting a shop that only takes cash.

Fresh Laundry

This goes without saying, but pack clean clothes. Nothing is worse than driving for an extensive amount of time wearing clothes that reek of yesterday. This too will also help you win the respect of local New Yorkers.

A Nice Camera

New York has the best national and state parks in the country. With magnificent views of the state’s gorgeous landscapes, you will want to capture the moment for eternity. You can do so with a really nice camera!

Sure, your phone has a great camera, but with the sights you’ll see in New York, you’ll want the quality to be as high as it can be. You can also fit in with the rest of the tourist when you strap your fancy camera around your neck.

Hi Friends!
I'm Fern and I have a love for travel, beauty, health and flowers! I went to school for nutrition, but wasn't really interested in being a nutritionist. So, I started to bartend and have since I graduated school a year ago.
I love talking to people, traveling and writing on my blog... and bartending allows me to do the things I love.

I can take off for a month to travel abroad and there will never be any shortage of bartending/serving jobs when I get home. I also love that I can work abroad bartending anywhere I want! So, I hope you enjoy my blog and if you have any questions, feel free to email me! :)
