Dishes to Include in Your Keto Diet

December 23, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

The keto diet is among the most popular diet techniques today because it is quite easy to follow. You won’t feel that you are sacrificing your favorite dishes because you are trying to lose weight. This technique is high in fat, but low in carbs. You can still eat your favorite steak and not feel guilty about your decision.

You need to be wise in determining what to include in your diet. Yes, you have the liberty to add fatty foods in your diet, but you also need to find the ones that are healthy and filled with nutrients. These are some of the meals that are keto-based for you to try.

Seafood

Shellfish and salmon are great options. They are high in fat, but the right kind. Apart from the fatty acids, they also contain Vitamin B, selenium and potassium. They are virtually carb-free, and you won’t feel bad if you indulge. Shrimp and crabs are also a good option for seafood. Be careful with some types of shellfish as they are not free from carbs.

Vegetables

You need to include vegetables in your diet consistently. Avoid starchy vegetables and find ones that are low in calories and carbs. You also need to look for vegetables that have high fiber content. Brussels sprouts and zucchini are among the safest choices.

Cheese

Everyone loves cheese, and you might even feel great about the idea that cheese is part of a keto-based diet. Cheese is delicious, but it also contains lots of nutrients. It is high in fat but low in carbs. Find a cheese that is high in saturated fat, but don’t worry about facing heart problems. You can find a cheese that has high saturated fat but is safe.

Avocado

If you are a fan of guacamole, this is good news for you. Avocadoes are high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They are also high in potassium content which is crucial if you are transitioning to a ketogenic diet. You will eventually decrease the bad cholesterol present in your body with the consistent inclusion of avocadoes in your meals.

Meat and poultry

They are the main staple foods in a ketogenic diet. Perhaps, you are smiling now since you are a fan of these dishes. They are great sources of protein, potassium, zinc, and selenium. You might question this idea given how high the fat content in meat is. However, when you compare a high-carb diet with a high-fat diet, the latter is more effective in reducing the levels of bad cholesterol in the body.

Eggs

You eat eggs almost every day, and you might feel great that it is a part of the list. One egg contains only 1 gram of carbs but is high in protein. If you already love eating eggs, you won’t mind having them as part of your ketogenic diet.

You can have these meals as part of your diet, or you can have keto meals delivered to your place if you have no time to prepare them.

Hi Friends!
I'm Fern and I have a love for travel, beauty, health and flowers! I went to school for nutrition, but wasn't really interested in being a nutritionist. So, I started to bartend and have since I graduated school a year ago.
I love talking to people, traveling and writing on my blog... and bartending allows me to do the things I love.

I can take off for a month to travel abroad and there will never be any shortage of bartending/serving jobs when I get home. I also love that I can work abroad bartending anywhere I want! So, I hope you enjoy my blog and if you have any questions, feel free to email me! :)
