Common Signs And Symptoms Of Poor Digestion

November 17, 2021 by admin Leave a Comment

Your digestive system is important for the proper functioning of your body. The digestive system works hard at breaking down and absorbing all of the nutrients from everything you eat. However, there are times when certain circumstances can prevent the digestive system from performing properly. These issues include:

  • Certain foods
  • Certain medications
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Stress
  • A serious illness (worst case scenario)

Taking care of your health begins with identifying the symptoms of a poor digestive system. We’ll go through five signs of poor digestion in this article.

Signs Of Poor Digestion

1. Stomach Ache

When it comes to poor digestion, stomach ache is frequently one of the first symptoms you’ll notice. Gastritis is the condition that causes the liquid in your stomach to aid in the digestion of meals with a lot of acids. Stomach pains can also be caused by bloating or constipation.

2. Constipation

The final phase of digestion takes place in your large intestine, where waste matter hardens into solid faeces. As a result, abnormal bowel motions are frequently an indication of poor digestion. Constipation is one example. When you have a hard time passing faeces when going to the bathroom, you have constipation. It is attributed to a variety of causes by the NHS, including insufficient fibre or liquid intake.

3. Diarrhoea

Another symptom to be aware of is diarrhoea. Diarrhoea is the polar opposite of constipation; it occurs when you have to pass watery or loose stools frequently. To avoid dehydration, make sure you have plenty of fluids while treating diarrhoea.

4. Indigestion

Indigestion, as the name implies, is a symptom of poor digestion. Indigestion is usually triggered by acid in your stomach, which can irritate your stomach lining and throat. Heartburn, belching, and bloating are all common indicators of indigestion.

5. Heartburn

A burning sensation in the chest is another indication of indigestion. This is due to stomach acid travelling toward your throat, as previously stated. GORD, or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, is a condition in which the stomach contents (food) back up into your oesophagus (middle portion).

How To Deal With Digestion Problems

Digestion issues typically go away on their own; simply pay attention to the meals you eat and try to avoid stressful situations if they do not. However, if symptoms persist and you would want more help, consider taking turmeric tablets. Turmeric has long been valued for its immune-boosting effects, and taking it as a tablet will help to safeguard you from any missed doses.

When To See A Doctor

If the signs of a faulty digestion do not go away, see your doctor. They will likely perform some tests to determine if an illness is causing severe problems. The following are examples of severe digestive disease symptoms:

  • Worsening heartburn
  • Unexpected weight loss
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Persistent bowel changes
  • Bloody stools

For additional information on the many different digestive systems and how to treat them, see the NHS website. Always seek further information from your doctor or another reputable health care provider rather than diagnosing yourself online.

Hi Friends!
I'm Fern and I have a love for travel, beauty, health and flowers! I went to school for nutrition, but wasn't really interested in being a nutritionist. So, I started to bartend and have since I graduated school a year ago.
I love talking to people, traveling and writing on my blog... and bartending allows me to do the things I love.

I can take off for a month to travel abroad and there will never be any shortage of bartending/serving jobs when I get home. I also love that I can work abroad bartending anywhere I want! So, I hope you enjoy my blog and if you have any questions, feel free to email me! :)
